Turkey day

We would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy Thanksgiving holiday.

We all know that during this season we can overindulge on food.  Want to try and avoid that extra bulge in your abdominal area?  Try some healthy alternative recipes provided by the Mayo Health System...

Keep these tips in mind while out and about this holiday season:
*eat small portions
*if you must eat "treats", be sure to have in moderation
*go for a brisk walk after eating instead of that nap
*drink plenty of water prior to eating; this can help curb your appetite preventing indulging
*try baking or steaming foods instead of frying for dredging in sauce
**and most of all, try to enjoy your time with friends and or family**

Did you know that spraying those pesky lady bugs with pesticide spray can have a potentially harmful effect to your health? The United States Environmental Protection Agency states, "pesticides emit pollutants such as hazardous air pollutan...ts (HAPs) and volatile organic compounds (VOC). These pollutants can contribute to health problems that may affect residents, the neighborhood, and the community" (2011).

This can lead to the following side effects:
*headaches *dizziness *nausea & vomiting *rash *weakness
as well as many others...

If you are planning on using bug spray near your home, be sure to take extra precaution such as wearing gloves, mask, ventilation, using non chemical means, and cleaning pets.

The paved road

Preparation for the paved road has begun!

The American Asphalt crew is working hard to prepare the road to become paved over the next few days.

We are thankful for this opportunity to make access to our facility easier and more convenient.

Service at our facility will continue during this time.  We recommend taking the next road after Pray Ave to the right; Pelsdorf Rd and then turning right onto Maple until our facility.

Continue to check our blog for updates on road conditions!

How much do you know about the influenza virus?

Test your "flu" knowledge by clicking on the following link:

http://www.cdc.gov/flu

It's back to school! As schools in our community welcome students back this week, we would like to take a minute to remind you about germs. As kids are in close contact with each other in school, they are at high risk for infection
... *Did you know:
*Influenza virus can live on hard surfaces for 2- 8 hours?
*Pertussis (whooping cough), can live on hard surfaces for several days?

The best way to help prevent infections is to practice good hand washing, covering your cough and staying home if you feel sick. Vaccination can also help reduce the risk of spreading disease to others.
If you or your child becomes sick, please feel free to contact our office with any questions or concerns. Our office is often able to schedule appointments quickly and conveniently to meet your needs.

For more information on how to protect you and your children against infectious diseases, visit the following website...
